CTU–KTW Direct Freighter: Chengdu to Katowice Air Cargo Capacity for Poland
Katowice Airport's China air cargo network continues to expand in 2026. For freight forwarders and shippers moving larger or time-sensitive cargo from China to Poland, New Vista Cargo provides access to fixed direct freighter capacity from Chengdu (CTU) to Katowice (KTW), with shipments starting from 500 kg.
Katowice Airport reported that its cargo terminal handled 28,356 tons of freight in the first half of 2026, up 29% year over year. Its cargo network currently includes two all-cargo charter routes from China, averaging around five flights per week. The Chengdu connection is operated by Central Airlines using a wide-body Boeing 777 freighter.

Why Katowice for China–Poland Air Cargo?
The Chengdu–Katowice cargo route was launched on October 21, 2025, when a Central Airlines Boeing 777F arrived at Katowice Airport. KTW originally announced the charter cargo route at a frequency of three to five flights per week.
Cargo activity at KTW has continued to grow. During the first six months of 2026, the airport handled 28,356 tons of freight, the strongest first-half cargo result in its history. DHL Express, UPS and FedEx have bases at the airport, while Lufthansa Cargo also operates a nationwide RFS freight integration point there.
For importers and freight forwarders, this makes Katowice useful not only as a destination in Poland, but also as a gateway for onward distribution into Central and Eastern Europe.
Built for Larger Air Cargo Shipments
This product is particularly suitable when the shipment is too large or too time-sensitive to rely solely on ordinary air freight capacity.
New Vista Cargo accepts shipments starting from 500 kg, with 3–7 tons as a typical shipment range. Larger shipments such as 10 tons, 20 tons, 50 tons or more can also be evaluated according to available capacity and cargo characteristics.
KTW reports that its China freighter operations carry approximately 100 tons of cargo per flight.
For multi-ton shipments, the objective is therefore not necessarily to charter an entire aircraft. Access to existing direct freighter capacity can provide a practical alternative.

Heavy and Oversized Cargo
Full freighter operations can provide greater flexibility for heavy and oversized shipments than standard passenger-aircraft belly capacity.
For suitable cargo, New Vista can evaluate individual pieces up to approximately 10 tons per piece, with dimensions around 600 × 240 × 244 cm, subject to aircraft configuration, loading position and final operational confirmation.
Oversized shipments are evaluated individually based on exact dimensions, gross weight, packing method, lifting requirements and available aircraft position.
For machinery or project cargo, please provide cargo photos and packing drawings together with the shipment details.
Battery and Dangerous Goods Cargo
Certain battery and dangerous goods shipments can also be evaluated for this service.
Acceptance is not automatic. Depending on the commodity, New Vista may require the UN number, DG classification, MSDS/SDS, battery specifications, packing information and other applicable transport documents.
Cargo acceptance should always be confirmed before delivery to the departure airport.
Your Supplier Does Not Need to Be in Chengdu
Cargo does not necessarily have to originate in Chengdu.
Shipments from manufacturing areas such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Suzhou and Yiwu can be moved to the departure gateway using an appropriate China domestic transportation solution.
The routing depends on the cargo location, shipment size, cargo-ready date, commodity and required flight date.
From Katowice to Poland and Central & Eastern Europe
KTW does not necessarily need to be the final destination.
After arrival and completion of the required import procedures, onward trucking can be evaluated to destinations including:
Warsaw · Prague · Vienna · Budapest
as well as other destinations in Central and Eastern Europe for suitable shipment sizes.
This gateway logic also makes geographic sense: KTW's own cargo materials emphasize its location near the A1/A4 transport corridors and its reach into Poland, Czechia and Slovakia.

When Does Direct Freighter Capacity Make Sense?
Regular air freight remains suitable for many smaller shipments. Direct freighter capacity becomes more relevant for multi-ton cargo, urgent production materials, automotive parts, machinery, industrial equipment, oversized pieces, battery/DG cargo, e-commerce replenishment and urgent project shipments.
For larger shipments, capacity reliability can be as important as the freight rate itself.
A low air freight rate has little value if the required space cannot be confirmed when the cargo needs to move.
